Wingfield Sculls Special | Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne and Sam Meijer in Crossy's Corner

About the video

The Wingfield Sculls first started in 1830 and is one of the top single sculling races in the British Rowing calendar. Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne and Sam Meijer are both members of the GB Rowing Team, previous winners of the Wingfield Sculls and both seeking to add another title to their collection in the race next week.

In this interview Martin Cross seeks to learn more about the race, who runs it as well as discover some of the quirks of the format and how what might not be acceptable at a multi-lane regatta might be perfectly OKAY when you’re 6 abreast on a river with no buoys to keep you apart!

We’ve split this recording into two parts, this is the first video of two… Enjoy!
